Description

My Father cigars have spawned a long line of successors since their introduction in the U.S. in 2003. No fewer than 12 lines of cigars and limited editions dot the company’s pedigree, and the factory in Esteli, Nicaragua stands in tribute to the manufacturers’ commitment to quality and to their customers’ consequent loyalty. Passion, after all, begets passion.

Enter the Toro size, an entry in the firm’s Flor de Las Antillas line that set its own tone for customer satisfaction. Cigar Aficionado magazine named it Cigar of the Year in 2012, with a score of 96 out of 100 — amazingly, 2012 was the year it was introduced.

The Toro sports a medium-bodied strength throughout the smoke, with delicious nutmeg and mellow white pepper notes competing with cedar, citrus and wood tones on the front end. Linger a while, and the hefty cream tang will announce itself, blending with the other entries in a nod to a taste some smokers call “pleasantly complex” as they enjoy the outstanding draw and the reassuring scent of wood and leather.

Doubly bound and wrapped, the Toro isn’t afraid to strut its stuff. It produces a lot of smoke and oil, correcting its burn trajectory at the drop of a hat (a nod to the superior tight wrap). The only problem with the Toro is that you can’t smoke it until you buy it — feel free to pick up a 20-item box and enhance your humidor accordingly.
