ABOUTMy Father Cigars El Centurion
EALIER THIS YEAR: My Father released the Centurion in 4 different sizes: Robusto, Belicoso, Toro and Toro Grande. It consists of all Nicaraguan tobacco.
2007: El Centurion is a heroic cigar, both in flavor and sheer ring size. The Emperadores is a magnificent Belicoso at 5.50 X 52. The Toro and Torpedo sizes are just as impressive. Make no mistake: This is serious stuff.
Don Pepin didn’t take any chances with this masterpiece and decided on a puro offering. Puros sometimes lack depth and character unless they are expertly handled. Don Pepin is nothing if not masterful. He took a marvelous three-year-old Nicaraguan Habano wrapper and then used three-year aged Nicaraguan Criollo 98 and Corojo 99 as both filler and binder in these cigars. Quality ingredients, long aging, and masterful blending produced an extraordinary cigar that outstripped the other products in the Don Pepin Garcia line.
Given its heritage, El Centurion is medium- to full-bodied, emitting the most beautiful smoke to roll across your palate. The trademark firm draw and the clean and even burn are present. El Centurion is as balanced and complex as could ever be expected from a premium cigar, finishing off with just a touch of sweetness that lingers to remind you of what you have experienced. The flavor has that creamy quality prized by experienced cigar smokers, the perfect medium for delivering hints of coffee, spice, toasted cedar, roasted nuts, and a rich caramel element hard to describe. Buy the Don Pepin Garcia El Centurion whenever you see it available. They are scarce but worth the wait.
