ABOUTMy Father Cigars Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic
In his El Rey de los Habanos factory in Miami, Florida’s Little Havana, Don Pepin put together the best Cuban-seeded Nicaraguan wrappers and fillers to produce a cigar rich in that characteristic robust, rich Cuban flavor.
Roasted nuts, earth, and spice all make an appearance in the Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic. While the smoke is robust and complex overall, there is never a hint of harshness or more pepper than is proper. Don Pepin’s cigars tend to have a firm draw, a legacy of his use of traditional Cuban construction, the entubado method in which the entire tobacco leaf is accordion-pleated and then secured in the cap on the head of the cigar. It takes only a little more effort to extract all the flavor from a Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for that well-known even burn the brand is famous for.
Don Pepin thinks you shouldn’t have to pay a premium price for a premium cigar. The Cuban Classic, for example, has a price tag of about $7 or so, depending on ring size. Maybe these won’t become your daily smoke, but they should be in your humidor, ready for those weekly rituals like Wednesday night poker or Sunday afternoon auto racing on TV. Whatever your personal leisure activity, a Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic should be invited to the party.
