Cohiba RED DOT Pequenos
Can a small panatela deliver legendary Cuban taste? If it’s the Cohiba Red Dot Pequeno, the answer is yes. At 4 3/16 x 36, it’s a cigar that’s well worth considering whenever time’s at a bit of a premium, say while you’re waiting on a dinner reservation or possibly doing your own grilling on the patio. If you’ve got 20 to 30 minutes or so to fill, this little guy can definitely fit the bill.
The Pequeno sports a dark, rich Cameroon wrapper, with just the slightest touch of oil, around smooth smoking, Dominican filler composed of Piloto Cubano leaf and an Indonesian binder. This combination lands this cigar in the mild-to-medium range for body. Crack open a tin—they come conveniently packaged in snappy containers of 6—and you’ll instantly see why the Pequeno enjoys a large and devoted fan base. It’s easy to fall in love with the good looks of these little dynamos right away; light one up and your love affair will take flight thanks to the Pequeno’s solid construction and even burn, both making these Cohiba’s an enjoyable smoke down to the last puff. Many smokers say they’re left wanting more after finishing one up. Be sure not to over-puff these, though; given their small size they can turn hot and harsh if you get aggressive with them. Take your time, even if that time is short, and you’ll be rewarded with a smoke from a cigar that many feel is the finest shortie out there.
