The CAO Italia Piazza is a cigar crafted to 6 inches in length and a ring gauge of 60. Boxes of 20 cigars deliver a delightful, uncommon smoke that is finding adherents among those looking for something a bit new and fresh, though not too far from the mainstream of their favorite stogies. The makeup of the CAO Italia Piazza brings together a global blend of quality leaves that feature the richest flavors their respective countries have to offer. Italian tobaccos give the cigars their distinctive sweet and spicy flavor, reminiscent of your favorite pasta sauce that boasts a blend of both garlic and cilantro. Grown from Habano seed the filler leaves are juicy with medium to full-bodied flavor and medium strength, being comprised of a mix of Peruvian and Nicaraguan leaves, too. This is a nice mix for the connoisseur who wants to relax with a great cigar and await the evolution in complexity this smoke delivers. If you are looking for comparisons the Ashton VSG or the Alec Bradley Family Blend are two that come to mind, but there’s nothing quite like this tasty line from CAO.

Season to Taste

Review by Mario Cruz on October 06, 2011

Some say the CAO Italia Piazza lacks taste and they’ve either lost their taste buds or their cigars needs some ripening in the humidor. I’ll get a bland Piazza every now and again, but it’s rare. Mostly medium to full flavor that is deliciously smooth and zesty at the same time. I don’t touch mine till they’ve had 4 months in the humidor.

I enjoy trying cigars with diverse tobaccos. Sometimes they miss the target. The CAO Italia Piazza is a bulls-eye. The Italian and Peruvian filler leaves create a multi-faceted and complex blend that is slightly sweet, somewhat herbal and quite tasty. The Habano wrapper adds familiarity to the mixture at the same time. A full-flavored and I might add full-bodied, combination. Not as exotic as another favorite, the Drew Estate Acid cigars, but not ordinary either.

Let em Breath

Review by Eric S. on June 24, 2011

The filler tobaccos in the CAO Italia Piazza seem to be quite dense and they absorb humidity more than others. This can make the draw tight. If the pre-light draw is tight I give them a couple hours out of the humidor and try again. It usually loosens up with some breathing. When this cigar is right, it offers unmatched smokability.

Much Improved

Review by stogeeez on February 03, 2011

I bought a box of these 4 months ago and the first few were a huge disappointment after enjoying the Ciao so much. I read reviews saying to give them time in the humidor. It worked and they are now nearly as good as my beloved Ciao cigars. Don’t shy away from the bigger CAO Italia Piazza but you should consider giving them several months to mature.

Another Italian Masterpiece

Review by Edwin Rodriguez on February 03, 2011

The medium flavor of the CAO Italia Piazza begs for something equally tasty to accompany it. I’ve enjoyed them with Italian wine and Irish cream, so the options vary. The deal is, the beverage seems to bring out the considerable nuances of these delicious cigars. In all, the experience is much like the Padron 1964 Anniversary Imperial with a similar Habano wrapper. There’s a lot of complexity for those who go searching for it. Rating: 8.3

Full of Flavors

Review by Davey Boy on February 03, 2011

This is a big, beautiful cigar that is sheer pleasure to smoke. The draw is somewhat firm which I find just right for a large stick. Lots of smoke comes from this one and a rich aroma. The burn is slow, steady and usually very even. Flavor-wise, the CAO Italia Piazza is a mixed bag that includes traditional Cuban flavors like leather and cedar along with more exotic notes like apricot and grape.
