The CAO Black Frontier is 7.00 inches in length and sports a 50 ring gauge. It is offered in boxes of 20 and is a wonderful box to have on hand to enjoy and to offer to guests. Why? The CAO Black line is the quintessential cigar, the first blend the company offered.  The CAO Black Frontier is excellent for the beginner and a favorite of the seasoned smoker looking for something just right for any occasion, or even daily. The blend is medium-bodied and very, very smooth, with a gentle finish that lingers pleasantly.  These are highly rated cigars yet very affordable. Made in limited numbers, picking up a couple of boxes of CAO Black Frontier, the cigars that introduced CAO to the world, makes good dollars and perfect sense.  The goal was to make a perfect cigar that everyone would enjoy, middle of the road but of the absolute highest quality and flavor – like a perfect sirloin steak, basic and incomparable. Many enthusiasts of fine cigars think they nailed it, resulting in stogies of exceptional quality.

Dapper stick with pleasing taste

Review by Adrian P on January 10, 2012

Nicely rolled stogie has a good-looking wrapper with small veins but nothing obnoxious. The flavor is mild to medium and slightly sweet, like coffee with just a little sugar, no cream. It became stronger, like espresso, as I smoked past the band, but it remained smooth and not bitter.

Delicious CAO

Review by Big Red on October 04, 2011

This legendary double corona from CAO is as good as advertised. Been a favorite for a long time. They are smooth and medium-bodied with enough zest to keep them very interesting. This longer cigar starts out like toasted nutbread then progresses in the second half to something bolder, but still smooth, with more cedar and mild pepper.

The flavor grows as it goes

Review by erod on August 17, 2011

I noticed fruity citrus in the cold draw, with some hay. The lit stogie offered roasted peanuts that started mild and then got zestier, which I found mouth-watering. By the second half I was ready for a big more energy from the cigar and I got it. There’s some kick to this one in the last couple of inches, so if that’s what you like, don’t put it down too soon.

Stock the humidor!

Review by Sterling Forrest on June 29, 2011

Right off the light I noticed creamy vanilla and a hint of peanuts. The flavor didn’t chance so much as intensified. It got deeper, more delicious, without becoming harsh. Slight burn issues in the second half but they were manageable. It’s twice the size but reminded me of a Nub Connecticut. I’ll buy a box next time, these are hard to find now.

A complex and slightly flawed character

Review by Ralph Diaz on June 14, 2011

The Ecuadorian wrapper was tasty, but had minor flaws and a sizable vein. Beyond that, I enjoyed this medium smoke that tastes like a Perdomo Estate Vintage 1991. It has that same depth and complexity of flavor that remains totally smooth. Look for bread, espresso, cedar and leather, in that order.
