Description

The CAO Black Bengal is 6.00 inches in length and sports a 50 ring gauge. It is offered in boxes of 20 and is a wonderful box to have on hand to enjoy and to offer to guests. Why? The CAO Black is the quintessential cigar, the first blend the company offered. The goal was to make a perfect cigar that everyone would enjoy, with middle of the road pricing but of the absolute highest quality and flavor – like a perfect sirloin steak, basic and incomparable. Many enthusiasts of fine cigars think they nailed it, resulting in stogies of exceptional quality. They are excellent for the beginner and a favorite of the seasoned smoker looking for something just right for any occasion, or even daily. The blend is medium-bodied and very, very smooth, with a gentle finish that lingers pleasantly. These are highly rated cigars yet very affordable. Made in limited numbers, picking up a couple of boxes of CAO Black Bengal, the cigars that introduced CAO to the world, makes good dollars and perfect sense.

Very pleasant smoke

Review by Mike T on October 20, 2011

I like mellow cigars and this one fits the bill. Medium flavor and body with lots of good taste, something like a Fuente Hemingway. Mocha and cream, some toasted nuts. Mild cedar is about as strong as it gets. The cigar has great construction, firm with no soft spots. Airy draw, good burn and good ash.

Just my Type

Review by Ralph S on September 15, 2011

Out of the wrapper the Black Bengal smells like hay and the bakery. The smoking flavor is deeper but still mellow and creamy, like strong coffee with a splash of cream. I tasted hints of oak and leather that got somewhat more pronounced after the band. Some nicotine kick but not too much. Like another of my favorites, the Punch Cigars After Dinner stogie. Just about right.

Where’s the pepper?

Review by Robert C. on July 05, 2011

I smoked one that had been in the humidor and it was very mild, almost too mild. The last one I had a year ago had more pepper and leather. This one was very smooth, quite creamy with just a hint of spice or cedar. There’s nothing wrong with the way these taste but I like a little more zing on the palate.

Good looking and mellow

Review by Puff the Dragon on January 10, 2011

Great construction, beautiful wrapper. The cigar smells great before lighting and better after. I noticed lots of smooth mocha that was fairly sweet with some vanilla. I noticed some pepper as it went, but it never got really spicy. Medium bodied, medium flavor. The burn was good, with a touch up or two.

Peanut-goodness we both enjoy

Review by Mr. Robusto on January 10, 2011

A friend suggested these to my wife because she likes mild cigars that don’t bite. I tried one and we both really like them, a rarity for us! The flavor is unique – peanuts and warm bread, some leathery taste nearer the end. Plenty of flavor, just nothing harsh and no nasty kick in the pants. Something like the Macanudo Maduro, but richer.

Better than a Black Beauty

Review by Edwin R. on January 10, 2011

One of the better cigars from CAO and I’m a CAO fan. Rich body from first to last, and plenty of complex taste. The fillers blend well. Creamy smoke and smooth taste, with a pretty long finish. The Black Bengal is a very relaxing smoke, not unlike the Gurkha Black Beauty. Head to head, I’d take this one.

Nice stick, smooth smoke

Review by Smokers Paradise on January 10, 2011

This cigar has excellent construction, firm but not tight. It burned very well and the ash hung on nicely. Flavors are cedar and some spice, getting more intense toward the end. Medium body and full flavor, along with a great aroma. Reminded me of the Partagas 898, a favorite smoke.
