This installation of our “The Story Behind” series takes a look at Casa Fuente cigars. Perhaps you’ve wondered, “Are these real Fuentes?” Maybe you’ve asked, “Are these a cheap offshoot like the Flor de Oliva?”
Here’s the deal, if you’re not familiar with Casa Fuente cigars.
Yes, they are “real” Fuente cigars produced at Tabacalera Fuente y Cia using all the rich tobaccos they employ in your favorite blends. For example, the Casa Fuente Double Robusto is formulated with a mix of tobaccos almost identical to the Fuente Opus X but rolled in a Cameroon wrapper.
Another stick, the recent Casa Fuente 800 Series stick uses a Havana-seed Ecuadorian sun grown Rosado wrapper that is filled with proprietary tobaccos from the various Fuente farms. Carlito Fuente is the blender on this cigar.
What’s with the Casa? Perhaps we should have mentioned this sooner. These cigars are the “house” cigars at Casa Fuente cigar bar on the Strip in Las Vegas. If you frequent Vegas and smoke cigars, this is a “must visit” destination.” You’ll find it in the upscale Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.
As for price, you’d expect these super-premium stogies to cost more than most – and they do. A good place to start is a Casa Fuente Series 5 Sampler that’s about $85. A single Casa Fuente Robusto goes for about $33. Boxes of 25 cigars range from $850-$1,025. We carry Casa Fuente ashtrays at this time, and they’re very rare.
The cigars are complex and tasty. The flavor profile includes an earthy based topped with notes of cinnamon, leather and pepper.
