Really?

Review by Buddy Wagner on March 11, 2007

I have to start by saying I LOVE Fuente. Probably 60% of my 500 cigars in the humidor is Fuente. This smoke was disappointing from the first few puffs. The draw was good and the construction was, well....Fuente. I had no issue with the burn, which was even and not overly hot. The smoke started of with a woody taste, switched quickly to leather, then to cedar then back to wood. I just couldnt enjoy the time between transitions.

The Fuente Fuente Opus X XXX is probably one of my all time favorite sticks, excellent construction, perfect burn, and, most importantly, the taste is amazing. After some age on this stick it would easily be a 10.

"Lives up to its name"

This cigar lives up to its Opus X name with a wonderfully flavorful cigar. Thick smoke, even burn and full flavored. Not for the light at heart!

Rich

Review by chip on February 25, 2007

Like its big brothers, this cigar is bold from the first taste. Many rich, complex flavors make this a great smoke. This is an after dinner cigar. Not recommended on an empty stomach. With all its strength it is smooth from start to finish.

Best Smokes Ive Had This Year

Review by Craig S. on February 25, 2007

Its early in the year, but these are some of the best sticks Ive had in 2007. Had the Opus X after a steak and some black and tans, and it was the perfect end to a top notch meal. The other Fuente cigars were equally as pleasant. Thanx again!

OPUS X

Review by Gerry the GMAN on February 25, 2007

Like the Padron 26, it lives up to the hype and price. Opus X is the smoothest, best-ess cigar filled with flavor that never overpowers. There may be a couple of speciality cubans that are a little better but this is the one I save up to buy, and wait for the right time and place to smoke it!!!

The xXx is one of my favorite cigars. I love these little powerhouse cigars. Great flavor, great construction, and they pack a great punch of strength. Make sure youre sitting down the first time you smoke one of these.

Opus XXX

Review by Shawn Varner on February 19, 2007

A beautiful cigar, nicely packaged and a joy to look at and smell. The wrapper was tasty, not spicy, just mellow. The first few drags were a bit hot and spicy but that mellowed instantly. Woody is how I would describe this powerhouse. This stick was surprisingly powerful, almost like a camacho, but it fools you. I just finished it and my head is spinning, very full. My only complaint is that it is a pricey. I still like my RP sungrowns just as much and they are a less than a 1/4 of the price.

Arturo Fuente - Opus XXX

Review by The_Stogemeister on February 18, 2007

Arturo Fuente - Opus XXX - 4 5/8 x 49 A well packaged cigar that attracts the eye. The cigar is a medium brown with a slight reddish hue, nice tooth and a oily sheen. The little Beli has some noticable vein and the cap is somewhat sloppy. Tangy pepper, toasted earth and some oak hit the palate on the first couple of drags. The Opus started out full bodied but after 1/4 it has mellowed a bit into a medium-full bodied smoke, the flavors now consist of licorice, oak and a slight brassiness on the long finish. I find the Opus to be lacking in complexity, for most of the smoke it has a cloying mettalic-woodiness with some notes of licorice in the mix. After the 1/2 way point closing in on the 3/4 mark the cigar is pretty much boring. The flavors are still the same and have not progressed at all. I hung on till I had 3/4 of an inch left, there was no gran finale. The opus ended medium in body and showed no harshness or bitterness through out the session. The aroma smells of tea, peppercorns and strong tobacco, however its not offensive. The ash was some what flakey, some peices of it actually fell off through out the smoking experience. I knocked the ash off at 2. This cigar burned pretty straight requiring no touch-ups and the draw produced plenty of smoke. IMO this is a highly overated cigar with lots of show but not quit enough go. This smoke should knock your socks off for the price it demands. As far as Fuentes go I would rather have a Cuban Belicoso or a Don Carlos.

The Opus X XXX is a great smoke, small and well packed the draw is flawless and the flavors mature as you smoke. The price is a bit much for the smoke but the mystique of it commands the price

Review by G. C. Stevens on February 11, 2007

The Opus X XXX is well constructed and a firm cigar. It started spicy and peppery and then mellowed out to where I couldn’t put it down. It was an hour of pleasure. Nice draw and even burn. I need more!

PerfeXXXion

Review by Austin Keay on February 07, 2007

The Opus X XXX is one awesome little cigar. The first thing youll notice is the great apperance of this short cigar. The wrapper leaf is amazing and feels silky around this mini belicoso. The draw and burn are perfect and the ring size allows plenty of tasty smoke to flow through with ease. Youll find the spicey, earthy and peppery flavours in abbundance. I didnt taste too much of the sweet and slight citrus youll find with a longer Opus, so this little guy is a great change of pace from the other Opus sizes. An ultra premium that goes well anytime and wont take as long as other Opus sizes... my highest recommendation.

The King Has Arrived

Review by Anthony Gutierrez on February 06, 2007

It was a shame to clip this beauty. The oily wrapper and flawless construction made it a masterpiece. Many flavor layers throughout, including earthy, creamy nutmeg and spice. Perfect ash, perfect draw. In other words, an Opus X.

A delicious masterpiece displaying an incredible creaminess towards the last part of the smoking experience. The XXX is shorter cigar which offers an hour of pleasure. Despite burning slightly unevenly, the Opus displays beautiful construction.

Pricey, but a real treat

Review by Ed on February 03, 2007

Ahh yes, the legendary Opus X XXX Power Ranger - definitely earns the title. Excellent aroma before you light er up; one of those that smell almost too good to light, but once you do you are entranced with complex flavors of spice, pepper, and earth. Solid construction, good draw and a good firm ash with thick, white smoke. Definitely a cigar-lovers cigar, I suggest keeping at least one or two in the humidor for special occasions or when you feel the need for that special reward or treat, or just when you want to spoil yourself. You just cant go wrong with these when youre looking for a change from your every day cigar.
