The La Aurora brand is recognized as being one of the standards against which fine cigars are measured. But even in this select company, there is always one representative that is a star in its own right. La Aurora 1495 Cameroon 1994 is that star.
If you are looking for something really extraordinary, you owe it to yourself to lay in a supply of La Aurora 1495 Cameroon 1994s. This is basically the same excellent cigar as the 1495 with one small variation. The Cameroon wrapper leaves from the 1994 harvest were considered to be too small to use in a full-size cigar, so they were laid aside for 14 years. Fourteen years is a long time to age anything, with the possible exception of a daughter. What it did for the 1994 harvest is little short of amazing. The tasty and robust Cameroon became even stronger and smoother.
Given the rarity of these leaves, only 18,000 1495 Cameroon 1994s were made, so you will have to search a bit to find some of these for your humidor. They are only available in a 5.0 X 44 Corona, but this little cigar is brimming with exemplary flavor. There are strong notes of spice and cocoa at first, with the spice fading out over time. Then you are merely left with the heavenly combination of cocoa, nuts, touches of cinnamon, and wood.
If you’ve scored a box of these, dole them out carefully on very special evenings with the best light liquor in your cabinet. Anything too strong will overwhelm the subtleties of the 1495 Cameroon 1994, and that would just be tragic.
