Julio Eiroa is an icon of the cigar master’s art. His expertise and sheer artistry in blending select tobaccos for the Camacho enterprise are almost in the realm of myth and legend. When Eiroa says that the La Fontana is his favorite cigar produced at the Ranchos Jamastran factory in Honduras, the knowledgeable aficionado sits up and pays close attention.
Eiroa took a Honduran filler and binder and then completed this masterpiece with a Connecticut wrapper. The La Fontana is supremely smooth and creamy, due in part to the way the cap is applied with a sugarcane gum. This example of Eiroa’s attention to minute detail means that you get an added sweet finish that lingers on your lips.
Sweetness is not the only quality you’ll associate with a La Fontana. The mellow blend of Honduran tobaccos results in a pleasing melding of coffee and spice that last for the duration of the smoke. La Fontana is a bit more muscular than you might expect, though.
This medium-bodied cigar is offered in a wide range of sizes so that you can enjoy one at nearly any time of the day. Even better, the La Fontana line is reasonably priced, so you can afford to smoke these often, if you can find them. They are very popular and tend to sell out rather quickly at times.
This gem of a cigar would work very well as a dessert cigar in place of a heavenly-but-heavy concoction. A La Fontana would match up very well with a medium-roast coffee with cream and sugar, accompanied by a shot of amaretto or anisette. |
