Our selection of La Gloria Cubana cigars includes:
Not only are La Gloria Cubana cigars a favorite smoke of thousands of aficionados, but they are also enduring symbols of the Cuban émigrés who started new tobacco enterprises after the revolution of 1959. In the case of La Gloria Cubana, the brand’s founder Ernesto Pereze-Carillo was a Cuban senator and an elite tobacco grower who transplanted his business to what was to become the Little Havana area of Miami, Florida. By 1908, Pereze-Carillo and his son were making cigars in both Miami and the Dominican Republic. Their products achieved recognition for their taste and value.
In an effort to appeal to a broad spectrum of cigar enthusiasts, the La Gloria Cubana created 23 different sizes of cigar with a choice of natural or Maduro Ecuadorian wrappers. The hearts of the cigars, the fillers, are a masterful blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos. What this means for the aficionado is a dizzying number of choices.
A short sampling of the brand includes the estimable Series R cigars, robust and full-bodied for those who crave a Cuban-style cigar. From its introduction in 1999, the Series R cigars have gone through several different iterations, one of them just right for you.
Of special note is the Series R Limitada 2006, a limited-release treasure with only 21,000 cigars created that year. Assuming a torpedo configuration, the characteristic Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers are augmented by either a natural Sumatra wrapper or a Maduro Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. This is a monumental cigar, both in taste and in its 63 ring size.
The Figurado offers the same fillers and wrapper as its brethren, tending toward the medium- to full-bodied end of the scale. It offers a cigar smoker cedar, milk chocolate, and spiced coffee in the form of a delectable Perfecto. |
