The name says it all. This is one big, beautiful cigar. Cigar aficionados have come to expect fine, robust, rich flavor when they light a Gurkha. When it’s a Titan, they are in for one of the ultimate experiences of their lives.
The Hansotia enterprise set out to make the finest premium cigars anywhere using the best tobaccos they could find. In the case of the Titan, they have exceeded even their own expectations.
Hansotia launched the Gurkha Titan in 2005 with a limited release of only 1,000 boxes. If the company were trying to create some hype to surround this new cigar, it wasn’t necessary. The Titan stands quite well on its own merits.
Finely aged five-year-old fillers from Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and Honduras lie at the heart of the Gurkha Titan. These are then enfolded in a five-year-old Nicaraguan binder, which in turn is encased in a mellow 1996 Costa Rican wrapper. The taste is a marvel of complexity, to say the least.
A lot of cigars have that coffee and chocolate flavor combination. However, the Titan furnishes a hint of cedar throughout. The overall effect is intoxicating.
While it doesn’t add anything to the taste and aroma of the Gurkha Titans, they are packed in a unique box fabricated from brush aircraft aluminum. It gives the impression of speed and strength found in a race car.
Good looks aside, the Gurkha Titan is one cigar that needs to find its way into your humidor. At a very impressive 6.20 X 52, you’ll need to set aside a couple of hours to contemplate and ruminate over this beauty. In this case, it’s not a waste of time. It’s an investment.
